Free Clean Green Waste Drop-off Days
In addition to utilising the new Kerbside Waste and Recycling Service introduced 1 April 2008, residents can drop off CLEAN green waste at Council's Windmill Hill Transfer Station for FREE on the dates listed below.
The following dates have been endorsed by Council and are scheduled for 2017:
- Saturday 6 May 2017 which is after the fire danger season has concluded;
- Saturday 14 October 2017 which is prior to the commencement of the fire danger season;
- Saturday 18 November 2017 which is also prior to the commencement of the fire danger season.
Advertisements will appear in the Courier advising further details 3 weeks prior to, and 1 week prior to each scheduled free green waste drop-off day.
Plants NOT accepted as green waste:
Bamboo, Blackbery, Boxthorn, Bridal Creeper, Cape Broom, Couch, English Broom, Gorse / Fuize, Hawthorn, Horehound, Kikuyu, Olive, Periwinkle, Poplar, Rose, Salvation Jane, Three Corner Jack and Willow.
General weeds other than proclaimed weeds will not be accepted as green waste where seeds are present or pose a risk to mulch quality. They will be classified as general waste to landfill.

In addition to utilising the 3 free green waste drop-off days and the fortnightly kerbside green waste collection service in township areas, residents can drop off CLEAN green waste at Council’s Windmill Hill Transfer Station during opening hours for a fee. This covers the cost of shredding the materials into mulch. Only clean green waste such as lawn clippings, leaves & prunings, small branches etc. will be accepted. Prescribed plants will not be accepted under the Animal and Plant Control Act.
