Regional Recreation Precinct Draft Study
Mount Barker District Council recognises the significance and role of leisure, recreation and tourism to the overall wellbeing of the community. To this end it is currently undertaking an assessment of facilities located in the ‘Regional Centre Recreation Precinct’ (See attached map) which comprises a collection of space and facilities essential to the delivery of outcomes to the community in the Mount Barker Township. The precinct is inclusive of Mount Barker Tourist Park the Linear Trail and community land situated adjacent to the Linear Trail next to St Francis Community Oval.

Community Recreation and Sport Plan
The District of Mount Barker has experienced significant growth in population over the past ten years. The increase in population and its impact upon the demand for recreational and sporting opportunity in the District is a key consideration in the creation of the Community Recreation and Sport Plan 2004-2007.
The Community Recreation and Sport Plan attempts to provide an overview of recreation and sporting expectations of an expanding and diverse Community utilising current trends and usage and implement a process to address them.
This Community Recreation and Sport Plan sets the direction for the future of recreation and sport provision in the District. Recreation and sport make a major contribution to the economic, cultural and social well being, and growth of the Community.
