Did you know – about half of what we throw into the garbage bin is food and garden vegetation? Kitchen Caddy an Compostable Bags

Council have a target to reduce waste to landfill by 20% per person by 2025 as part of our Waste to Resources Management Plan 2018-2025. You can help us achieve this target by using a kitchen caddy.

Mount Barker District Council residents are entitled to one (1) free kitchen caddy starter kit per residence*. The kit includes an aerated kitchen caddy, a roll of compostable bags** and an information brochure on use, including stickers for your bins.

Kitchen caddies and compostable bags can be used to collect food scraps from your kitchen. Full compostable bags can then be placed into your green organics bin to produce compost.

If you don’t have a green organics bin, kitchen caddies can also be used to collect food scraps for home composting systems, worm farms or as feed for chickens.

To apply for your FREE starter kit please email MOPsadmin@mountbarker.sa.gov.au with your name, phone number and residential address.

*While stocks last.
**Only certified compostable bags to be used. Bags must be labelled Compostable AS 4736.
