October 2021 - Early Notification – Wastewater Capital Works Program – Eastern Sector Sewer Trunk Main – Hartmann Road Mt Barker
As part of Council’s Wastewater Capital Works Program, Council is currently planning the construction of the Eastern Sector Sewer Trunk Main Stage 2 (ESTM). The ESTM is required to cater for growth from the new eastern sector land divisions. The ESTM will be constructed along Hartmann Road on route to Council’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) on Springs Road, Mount Barker.
A section of the ESTM along Hartmann Road is planned for construction mid to late November 2021 subject to contract negotiations and dry weather. The construction of this section of the ESTM is required prior to the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Belmont Crescent and Hartmann Road by the developers of the Emerald Way Stage 1 development. The work will performed during the day between the hours of 7.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and 7.00am to 1.00pm Saturdays. Council will provide an update advising of the project start date after the contract has been awarded. In addition, electronic message boards will be in place giving advanced notifications.
During construction, traffic and pedestrian management will be in place to ensure the safety of the contractors, road users and pedestrians. Due to the nature of the works requiring open trench construction and the position of the new sewer main, Hartmann Road will be closed to vehicle access and detours will be in place during construction activities. If possible, please use an alternative route during construction to avoid delays in reaching your destination.
It is anticipated that construction will take approximately 4 weeks, dependent upon the weather and ground conditions.
Your understanding and cooperation with traffic and pedestrian management during these works is appreciated and is essential for the safety of all.
Further advice concerning the roundabout construction activities, will be given by the developers (Parkfield Glades Pty Ltd), about traffic restrictions and the timing of the roundabout construction.
