Albert Road Mount Barker Footpath and Stormwater Construction
Construction of the underground stormwater, kerb and gutter and footpath is now complete.
Resealing of Albert Road is expected to be undertaken following the completion of the roundabout at Wellington Road.
The Mount Barker District Council is committed to maintaining infrastructure throughout the district and has in place a number of renewal programs, developed to assist in prioritising and scheduling works.
The 2015/16 footpath renewal program includes the construction of kerb and gutter and an asphalt footpath on the southern side of Albert Road from Alexandrina Road to Wellington Road. The 2015/16 minor stormwater program provides for the renewal of the underground stormwater infrastructure in the road, also on the southern side between number 1 and number 9 Albert Road.
To minimise the impact to property owners and road users of these renewal works, the projects will be undertaken at the same time.
Council’s contractor is scheduled to commence works in early April 2016 and is expected to be complete by end of June, subject to weather and any unforeseen issues.
While works are underway, there may be limited access to driveway entrances and vehicles should not be left parked on the road near the work area.
Notice from Council’s contractor advising the actual date of works will be provided to adjacent properties 1 to 3 days prior to commencement.
Where possible, traffic will be managed to maintain continued two way flow but sections of the road maybe closed for a period of time while construction is undertaken for the safety of workers and road users. All endeavours will be made to ensure a minimum of inconvenience, but alternative routes should be planned while works are underway.
