December 2014

Stage 1 of Alexandrina Road reconstruction is now complete.  Stage 2 will commence in January 2015.

9 September 2014

The contractor has scheduled Friday 12 Septtember to place the final asphalt surface layer on Alexandrina Road.  This will occur subject to suitable weather.

Traffic management will be in place and restricted to one lane during the day.

Works are expected to be completed within the one day.

22 August 2014

With a period of fine weather forecast for the next week, the contractor will recommence works beginning the week of 25 August.

August 2014

Works to prepare the road for reconstruction has been undertaken.  Further works require an 8-10 day period of dry weather otherwise a significantly poorer quality outcome will be achieved.  Further works are now on hold until mid-September.

July 2014

Construction works are now underway.  Road re-alignment, drainage and kerbing are being completed prior to the road surface being prepared for new asphalt.

April 2014

The District Council of Mount Barker has contracted Beltrame Civil Pty Ltd to carry out the reconstruction of Alexandrina Road between Hartman Road and approximately 100m east of Oborn Road (east).

Activity on site will begin in the coming weeks and completion of the project is expected by early July, subject to weather and any unforeseen circumstances.

Construction will comprise:
• alignment improvements,
• road widening and reconstruction of the road pavement,
• footpath construction,
• lighting installations and
• improvements to stormwater drainage.

The project objectives are to improve safety, access and amenity.

Stage 2 of the project (from the eastern end of Stage 1 through to just east of Secker Road) is subject to further grant funding being received.  The aim is to secure the grant funding so the works can be undertaken in the 2014/15 financial year.

By necessity, the construction work will result in delays and unavoidable inconvenience at times, with potentially a short term full closure of the Oborn Road east junction. During this time, access only via the Oborn Road (west) junction will be available.
