Bridge Street Nairne Pedestrian Bridge

The installation of the pedestrian bridge and construction of the retaining wall, fencing, lighting and asphalt pathway is now complete.

The District Council of Mount Barker recently awarded the contract to install a Pedestrian Bridge at Bridge Street, Nairne to Camco (SA) Pty Ltd.
The project will comprise preparation of the Bridge Street site, removal of the bridge from its temporary location at Hurling Drive and installation at Bridge Street. Also included is the construction of a retaining wall, fencing, lighting and a rubble pathway.
Construction will commence in late January 2015 with completion expected by June 2015, subject to weather and any unforeseen circumstances.
The cost of this project is $100,000 which will deliver improved safety, access and amenity for the community.
Council will be working very closely with the contractor to ensure pedestrian and vehicle safety is well considered during construction.

Background

This project will contribute a connection to the existing trail network as identified in the Mount Barker, Littlehampton and Nairne Trails Plan and provide a strategic link to the oval recreational complex.
