Spray Sealing of Roads
Update: The contrctor has advised that these works will now commence from 19 May 2017.
Council's contractor has advised that spray sealing of roads in Callington will be undertaken commencing 8 May 2017 and are expected to be complete by the end of the week, weather permitting.
- Baker Street - From North Tce to Murray St
- Baker Street - From Murray St to Hannam St
- Montefiore Street - From hannan St to Murray St
- Montefiore Street - From Murray St to North Tce
- Callington Road - From North Tce to Back Callington Rd
- Back Callington Road - From Callington Rd to end of seal
All endeavours will be made to ensure a minimum of inconvenience, but alternative routes should be planned while these works are underway. Road users are requested to adhere to any detours that will be in place.
Erskine Bridge Resurfacing - Temporary Bridge Closure
On Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 April 2017, Erskine Bridge will be temporarily closed to all vehicles while asphalt is installed. Variable Message Boards will be in place to advise traffic. Please observe posted detours.
Erskine Bridge Maintenance Complete - Bridge Reopened

Maintenance to the bridge pylons and additional guard rail have been completed and the bridge is now reopen to vehicles.
Erskine Bridge Maintenance – Temporary Bridge Closure
Commencing the week of 15 August 2016, maintenance to the bridge pylons and installation of additional guard rail on the approach to the bridge will be undertaken. This will require the bridge to be closed to all vehicles while contractors are on site. Work is expected to be complete within one week. Please consider planning ahead to use alternative routes during this time to avoid any delay in reaching your destination.
The resurfacing program continues with asphalt patching and asphalt repairs to Baker Street, Murray Street, Montefiore Street, Callington Road (North Terrace to Back Callington Road), and Back Callington Road (current sealed section). Patching will be undertaken during the next month with asphalt to follow early in 2017.
Work is continuing on improvements to drainage/pavement/traffic/pedestrian movements at the junction of North Terrace / Callington Road / Montefiore Street.
Erskine Bridge Pedestrian Facilities
A delineated walkway across the bridge for pedestrians is being negotiated with the Rural City of Murray Bridge. This will separate vehicles from pedestrians and include improved traffic controls. Further information regarding this project will be provided once agreement has been reached and a timeframe determined.
A refreshed town map and improved directional signage will be installed during the 2016/17 financial year.
Planting of 22 native trees in the reserve adjacent to the creek has recently been completed. To complement this, a number of street trees will be planted along North Terrace.
A preliminary heritage assessment of the calcining and smelting furnaces which were established in the 1860’s will commence within the next two months. This is the first stage of a project to explore and preserve a site of historical significance and create a trailhead of historic mines in the area of local and state significance.
