Dutton Road Upgrade
Dutton Road from the Railway to Daddow Road is to be reconstructed to replace the degraded road pavement and substantially improve pedestrian and vehicle safety around the school. A protected right turn into St Francis de Sales College, safe footpath access and a school crossing will be provided as part of the upgrade.
Advice of Temporary Road Closure, 12 & 13 January 2013
From 5.00am on Saturday 12 January 2013 to 10.00pm Sunday 13 January, Dutton Road will be closed to through traffic from the entrance to the Home Maker Centre to the intersection of Dutton, Springs and Daddow Roads to allow the rail crossing to be upgraded.
Temporary detours will be in place and signed to assist motorists.
Access to the Home Maker Centre off Dutton Road will not be affected.
Residents of Dutton Road between the rail crossing and Daddow Road will have property access on the Saturday and Sunday.
At the Council Meeting held Monday 17 September 2012 the Dutton Road Upgrade project was awarded to contractor McMahon Services Australia Pty Ltd.
The contractor is currently undertaking preliminaries, with works to commence onsite the week of Monday 24 September 2012 and continue through to mid January 2013.
While there will be traffic management strategies in place throughout this project to minimise inconvenience to the community, road users are advised to expect delays.
Access to St Francis de Sales College will be maintained at drop off and pick up times and vehicle access will be available during school hours. There will be limited opportunities during this period for on street parking.
During the 2011/12 FY Council undertook concept and preliminary design for the upgrade of Dutton Road, including the intersection with Daddow Road, Mount Barker.
In the 2012/13 FY to date the detailed design of the Dutton Road Upgrade Stage 2 has been completed and is out to tender.
The proposed scope includes school emu crossing, guard rail, creek culvert crossing, drainage, footpath and pavement works.
It is anticipated that works will commence late September 2012, with measures to be implemented to minimise disruption during construction works.
