Gawler Street Parklet
Council has been exploring ways of enhancing Gawler Street, Mount Barker as a place to be and to do business.
Consultation with land and business owners, together with the broader community resulted in a Master Plan being developed for the iconic Street.
Information about the Master Plan can be viewed via this link: http://www.mountbarker.sa.gov.au/page.aspx?u=1116
The Master Plan includes installation of a Parklet. A Parklet is where for short periods, several car parks are transformed into a park for people. They are a great way to create more people space in a streetscape, create interest and more out door seating space.
Expressions of interest were called from traders in Gawler Street who wished to link with the Parklet.
The Parklet is a ttemporary installation and is able to be relocated. After the initial trial period (12 months), other business within Gawler Street will be provided the opportunity to utilise the Parklet, facilitated through another Expression of Interest process.
The Parklet will be installed at 1/24 Gawler Street on Monday 30 November from 5pm.
