Bus Stop Program

Council is committed to maintaining bus stops (excluding shelters) to provide a safe environment with a number of bus stops scheduled for maintenance during the course of the financial year.  The program can include paving, vegetation removal, tactiles etc.

Council endeavours to complete the Bus Stop Program within the indicated year, however the program can be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs the affected segment will be scheduled in a future works program.

The total budget for the 2022/23 Financial year is $50,000.

The current legislation is by 31st December 2022 (Target Date) that all bus stops are to fully comply with relevant standards. The program is targeting several key bus stops on collector roads to bring them to a state of basic DDA compliance. Within the current program this predominantly includes; providing a level (1.0-2.5% cross fall) boarding point with a provisional minimum space of 1.54 x 2.07m to facilitate the manoeuvring of a wheelchair and installation of tactile ground surface indicators.

  • Nairne MS – Stop 72 (opposite the District Hotel)

Scope: regrade and lower pavers locally around bus stop and install tactile’s to standard layout. No inclusion of any street furniture due to potential clashes with adjoining property owners plans for their frontage, and the shelter availability under the adjoining buildings veranda.

Outcome: Provide a basic compliant boarding point with  a compliant gradient wheelchair manoeuvring space (2.07m x 1.54m).

  • Bus Stop 61, Mt Barker Road  (Works completed with bus stop to be reopened 18/4/19)

Scope: Currently the stop has a shelter and has only dirt/rubble ground cover. Install concrete pad for the extent of the “pull in” bay (approx. 15m x 2.5m) and incorporate tactiles.

Outcome: Provide an all weather proof basic compliant boarding point with  a compliant gradient wheelchair manoeuvring space (2.07m x 1.54m).

  • Bus Stop 56 (East and West Side) Hahndorf

Scope: Rectify paving locally and install tactiles as required.

  • Bus Stop 82, Woodside Rd

Scope: Provide sealed boarding point with tactile indicators as required.
