Linear Trail to Hurling Drive Stage 1
The project is part of Council’s wider Trails Plan for Mount Barker, Littlehampton and Nairne and will provide a key pedestrian and cyclist link from Bluestone and land rezoned via the 2010 Ministerial DPA to the Laratinga Trail and the Mount Barker Town Centre.
The Trail will be constructed in stages.
Stage 1 - Trail Now Open
The bridge over the creek is now open. Fencing along the rail corridor will put the final touches on this stage of the trail to Alexandrina Road.
Temporary Road Closure for Pedestrian Refuge Island Construction
Fletcher Road will be closed to through traffic on Thursday 10 June 2014 (weather permitting) at the railway crossing between Exhibition Road and Skipper Street to facilitate the safe construction and installation of a pedestrian refuge for Stage 1 of the Linear Trail to Hurling Drive.
Traffic management will be in place and motorists are advised to plan to use alternative routes to avoid delays. Access to properties within the work zone along Fletcher Road will be available at all times.
Specific queries regarding the road closure can be directed to Council’s Contract Project Manager, Ian Powell, on mobile 0408 970 966 or email email@example.com.
Stage 1 to commence January 2014
Stage 1 includes:
- Installation of a bridge across Mount Barker Creek to connect the Linear Trail extension to the existing Laratinga Trail.
- Construction of a 3.0 m wide Bitumate paved shared use pathway from the Laratinga Trail to Alexandrina Road
- A short link will also be provided to Hampden Road via the existing underpass.
These works are expected to be complete by end of April 2014.
Extension of the trail, south of Alexandrina Road to Hurling Drive is part of future staging works.
Council is currently undertaking works to improve the sewer connections at the end of Hampden Road to provide an efficient service to properties. These works are expected to be completed prior to the Christmas period. Click here for further information on this project.
Hampden Road from Victoria Crescent to the Creek will be upgraded. Further information will be provided on this component as scheduling is known.
