Information Forum - 30 May 2012
Council held a Community Information Forum between 7:00pm-8:30pm on Wednesday 30 May 2012 at Meadows Hall to update the local community and answer questions on the current status of these projects.
Negotiations are continuing between Council and Devine Communities to secure the necessary approvals to deliver both a new housing sub-division and WWTP for the township of Meadows. Council has also now received approval from the Federal Government for a $750,000 grant towards upgrading of the Meadows WWTP and reticulation network within the existing township.
The existing township of Meadows does not have a mains water supply and is totally reliant on rainwater and groundwater for its potable and non-potable water supply. Devine Communities are proposing to construct a new housing sub-division within the township and will provide, at their own cost, a new mechanical B Class WWTP. Council has committed to contribute the cost to upgrade this plant to an A Class WWTP which will be capable of providing a sustainable non-potable water supply of sufficient quantity to supply the future population of the township for garden and toilet use, subject to funding of reticulation networks. For further information, see the attached report which was approved by Council at its meeting on 20 September 2010.
