Wastewater Main Upgrade
In order for Council to comply with conditions of approval and license conditions from the Department for Health and Ageing (DH) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the operation of the CWMS, Council runs a maintenance program to ensure the pipe network is maintained to the required standard. The maintenance program reduces the risk of blockages, overflows to the local environment and inconvenience to residents.
Council has identified that the wastewater infrastructure that services the Eastern Sector of Mount Barker requires upgrading to increase capacity. As a result, we are about to commence the construction of a new pipeline from Waldorf School to Dean Street. This work will be undertaken by Council’s contractor, SADB, using the directional boring method meaning fewer disturbances to the surrounding environment.
If your property is to be affected, the contractors will be in contact with you to advise you when works will commence, entry requirements (if required) to your property and to provide you with contact details for their project manager.
Council’s contractor has indicated a commencement date of 15 March 2018 with completion expected by June 2018 subject to favourable conditions.
Where possible, works will be managed to maintain access to properties, however, for the safety of workers and road users, sections of road may be closed for a period of time while construction is undertaken. During the works there may be limited access to driveway entrances and vehicles should not be left parked on the roads in the vicinity of the works. Where possible alternative travel arrangements should be planned while work is underway to avoid any possible delay in reaching your destination.
Your cooperation in delivering the successful completion of this project for the community is appreciated.
