Proposal to Revoke the Classification as Community Land

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to Section 194 of the Local Government Act 1999, the Mount Barker District Council ("Council") proposes to revoke the classification as community land of 1 Charles Street Mount Barker being Allotment 192 in Deposited Plan 9809, in the area of Mount Barker, Hundred of Macclesfield and partially cancelled Certificate of Title Volume 3924 Folio 12.


The current Community Centre on this land is relatively small, not very adaptable, and poorly located for its current focus. It is envisaged that a new location for the Community Centre and the potential for outreach services across the district will improve service presence and accessibility for the broader community.

The Department for Education and Child Development plans to build a new ‘Children’s Centre’ in Mount Barker at the Mount Barker South Primary School. The Department conducted extensive design investigations and has confirmed that acquisition of the subject land from Council is required for the development.

Council will require continued public access to the existing playground which is to be relocated as part of the proposal.

Council invites submissions on the proposal to be received by 5pm Tuesday 9 August 2016.

Submissions should be marked “Proposal to Revoke Classification as Community Land – 1 Charles Street” and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Mount Barker District Council, PO Box 54, Mount Barker SA 5251 or emailed to council@mountbarker.sa.gov.au
