Tanya Voges is a socially engaged dance artist and creative arts therapist based on Peramangk Lands of the Adelaide Hills. Through an attempt to capture the ephemerality of dance and connect with audiences, Tanya’s work spans choreography, improvisation and performance drawing for theatres, galleries and screen. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, Tanya has worked with companies such as tasdance and Opera Australia, and with independent choreographers nationally and internationally before moving to South Australia. Within the hills, Tanya was a lead artist on the MBDC and ADT collaboration Every Body Dance (performed at Ukaria with the award winning documentary screened at Wallis Cinema in 2024) and has created Understory with artist Louise Flaherty and musician Belinda Gehlert for Fabrik during the bushfire recovery project at Lobethal (2022). Tanya's work Whispering Women with four mature dancers from Dance Excentrix was performed in Nairne for Inkpot's collaboration with local artists (2018). Other recent works include YIELD at Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA), The Score at Dancehouse, Melbourne, The Mill, Adelaide and AGSA. Tanya collaborated with visual artist Louise Flaherty and Belinda Gehlert on a suite of projects in nature (Memorial for Forgotten Plants and Understory). Upcoming projects include a commission for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra “Make a Move” family and schools performances in 2027 and performances and workshops for the 2027 Arts Health Week. Tanya is also a recipient of CASE Incubator and will be attending CAD Factory's nationally recognised mentoring program for socially engaged artists through 26-27 to extend her practice of Dance in Health.
