Artists in Residence Program
Make Believe Dream Create in Macclesfield is a pilot artists-in-residence initiative proudly supported by Mount Barker District Council as part of its Arts Plan 2022–2027.
This residency offers professional artists a unique opportunity to develop their creative practice in a dedicated, rent-free studio space known as The Stable—a self-contained workspace located beside the iconic Three Brothers Arms Hotel in Macclesfield.
The program is open to emerging, mid-career and established artists from across Australia and from all disciplines who live in the region or whose project has strong local connections.
Residencies can run for two, four or six weeks with artists working from The Stable at least three days per week. Each residency will conclude with the artist sharing their work with the local community through an exhibition, performance, workshop or talk.
Through this residency, Council aims to nurture artistic development while enriching our communities with visible, accessible creative practice.
