Wallis Wall of Wonder

Wall of Wonder whole wall

With funding through the Federal Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery fund, Council partnered with local artist and animator Luke Jurevicius (Vishus Productions) and the Wallis Cinema group to produce six diorama style murals, which when viewed with a smart phone or tablet, are brought to life using Augmented Reality.

Luke collaborated with a range of local artists to create the six hand-drawn digitally produced AR murals resulting in the first art installation of its kind in South Australia.

When the Cudlee Creek bushfires hit, the Wallis family opened their cinema building as a refuge and support centre for those affected by the fires. Many community members and their pets found shelter and comfort in this space, and this artwork is dedicated to addressing the emotional and physiological impacts of the bushfires on our Adelaide Hills community. We hope they bring a sense of positivity, creativity, wonder and imagination in the spirit of recovery.

Next time you're near Wallis Cinemas, grab your phone, take a closer look, and be struck with wonder as the murals come to life.
