Summit Precinct - $300 + Million (Hybrid of Public & Private investment)

The Summit Precinct has the potential to be one of Australia’s leading regional recreation, leisure, sport and entertainment facilities while supporting the growth of Mount Barker; one of South Australia’s fastest growing regions.

Located on approximately 50 hectares of land at the corner of Bald Hills Road and Springs Road in Mount Barker, the Summit Precinct accommodates the existing Summit Sports and Recreation Park, the nearly completed Summit Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Laratinga walking trail, heritage barns and a planned Regional Adventure Playground. Rehabilitation of the Mount Barker creek that flows through the site will create additional walking opportunities and a biodiversity corridor from the Laratinga Wetlands, and in time, up to Mount Barker Summit.

Whilst providing facilities for our local community, the Summit Precinct has generated a level of private sector interest that once delivered will create significant local employment and enhance support for the Adelaide Hills tourism sector.

A $50 million, 120-room hotel is set to transform Mount Barker into a premier regional tourism and leisure destination, with South Australian-based developer Accord Property chosen to develop an entertainment and leisure precinct on land owned by Mount Barker District Council. The hotel will be the first stage of the landmark Summit Precinct.
