Invoicing

To ensure that your invoice is processed as quickly and efficiently as possible, please ensure that all invoices sent to Council incorporate the following information:

  1. All invoices are made out to Mount Barker District Council or one of its registered subsidiary names such as GMB Water and not the District Council of Mount Barker.
  2. If you are registered for GST, the document must state it is a TAX INVOICE. If you are not registered for GST, then the document only needs to state INVOICE.
  3. The business identity.
  4. The business’s Australian Business Number (ABN). Please note we do check the ABR register to make sure the ABN can be linked to the supplier’s business name.
  5. A unique invoice identifier e.g. invoice number.
  6. The date the invoice was issued.
  7. A brief description of the goods, services or works provided including the quantity, unit price and total price.
  8. The GST amount payable (if any).
  9. The extent to which each sale of the invoice is a taxable sale.

If Council’s Accounts Payable team determines that an invoice is not ATO compliant, it will be declined and returned to the supplier to rectify.

If you would like more information about compliant invoices, please visit the ATO website.
