Dogs

Dogs and Cats Online (DACO) has replaced the 68 individual council registers and assists councils, shelters and the general public in reuniting lost pets with their owners.

All dogs over 3 months of age must be registered, or within two weeks of ownership. You can register your dog online with Dogs and Cats Online (DACO).

Tips for barking dog owners
Dogs are an important part of our community, however dogs that bark excessively can become a source of irritation for neighbours and others using the local environment. Our best friend can, if it barks continually can become an intrusion and create friction between neighbours. Neighbours can help each other to solve barking problems by communicating to each other their concerns and needs. Your neighbour may not even be aware that their dog is causing an issue.

Contacting your neighbour
Mount Barker District Council receives numerous complaints regarding nuisance noise from barking dogs. Approaching the dog’s owner in a neighbourly manner and discussing your concerns with them sometimes easily resolves this type of complaint.
