Waste to Resources
Waste generation and resource use present a growing challenge for the Mount Barker District, driven by rapid population growth, ongoing urban development and changing consumption patterns. As the district grows, Council’s role in service design, procurement, education and partnerships becomes increasingly important to recover more value from materials, reduce waste to landfill and minimise emissions associated with waste generation and disposal. A stronger circular economy approach can also reduce costs over time, support local enterprise and contribute to a more liveable district.
