Main Street

Nairne Main Street Upgrade

The Main Street will be upgraded in stages with stages 2.4A and 2.3 currently underway.

9 April 2025

Site demolition / clearance is now complete.

SPACE Landscaping Construction, Council’s main works contractor, has been continuing with preparation for the new retaining walls, pedestrian ramp, kerbing, landscaping, stormwater and outdoor dining across the site frontage.

All service utilities have been on-site at various times over the past 3-4 weeks with Telstra, NBN, SA Water and SA Power Networks all lowering their respective services with these works now approaching completion.

Concreting is underway for the retaining walls footings around the Church, a practice which will continue for all other retaining walls across the site over the next few weeks.

In addition, installation of the new septic tank and wastewater connection to service the Soldiers Memorial Hall will also commence later this week.

As you can appreciate, the construction site is busy and fairly extensive at present from the Millers Arms across to the Memorial Hall.

Please observe the traffic and pedestrian management measures in-place and continue to be vigilant throughout the construction period.

Please also note that due to the complexity of ongoing works, the Memorial Hall Car Park will be closed to all vehicles on Friday 25 April 2025 for the Anzac Day event.

Apologies for the inconvenience this may cause but community safety remains of the utmost importance and the site cannot be opened up in its current form for public use.

March 2025

Construction works have been progressing well over the past few weeks.

SPACE Landscaping Construction, Council’s main works contractor, has been continuing with site demolition outside Chingari and the Soldiers Memorial Hall, as well as excavation for the various retaining walls and pedestrian ramp.

Both Telstra and NBN have been on-site lowering their respective services - apologies to those who were affected by the short NBN outage last week.

Further service diversions including SAPN and SA Water will continue over the next couple of weeks as well as the retaining wall foundations.

Works are scheduled to take around 6 weeks until the end of September.

Traffic management will be in place so please look out for changed traffic conditions throughout the works.
