The District of Mount Barker’s own backyard is well worth a serious look, with its sweeping countryside, a wide range of accommodation, an abundance of fresh local produce and a host of beautiful wineries.

Inspired by the legacy of Sir Hans Heysen the District is a Mecca for artists, galleries, and artistic events such as the Cedars, Hahndorf Academy, Heysen Prize and the Gawler Street Art trail.

The District is known and admired for its vibrancy, creativity and welcoming nature, offering approximately sixty events each year - so there is something for everyone and enough to keep you going all year round. These include major events such as the Tour Down Under, Motorcycle Riders Association Annual Toy Run and the All British Day along with community generated events such as Power of the Past, Meadows Easter Fair, the Mount Barker and Callington  Shows, Meadows Country Fair, Macclesfield Classic Bike Show plus the largest Christmas Pageant outside of Adelaide to name just a few.
