Notice of Works - Line Marking Program

The Mount Barker District Council undertakes an annual line-marking program across the district as part of its ongoing maintenance schedule. This work is essential to maintaining clear and visible pavement markings, improving road safety, and ensuring the continued management of the sealed road network.

Scope of Works:

The annual line marking program will involve refreshing faded or worn pavement markings on sealed roads throughout the district. Works may include:

• Repainting centre lines, edge lines and lane lines
• Refreshing stop and give way lines
• Renewing directional arrows, road symbols and other pavement markings
• Removing or re-painting worn, obsolete or non-compliant markings where required
• Implementing temporary traffic management to protect workers and road users

Temporary traffic restrictions or minor delays may occur while the works are underway. Road users are asked to follow all signs and directions from traffic controllers.

Where:

Zone 1, which encompass the Grater Mount Barker area as delineated on the attached map, (Light Red) as well as the Mount Barker CBD.

What to Expect:

While line marking works are underway, road users may experience temporary traffic controls, reduced speed limits and minor delays. Work vehicles and equipment will be operating throughout the area, and access may be temporarily affected at some locations.

Works will be undertaken across both day and night shifts. Night works will be required on roads with higher daytime traffic volumes to minimise disruption to road users and allow the works to be completed safely and efficiently.

Please take care when approaching the work area, follow all signage and traffic controller directions, and avoid driving over freshly painted lines. Access to properties and businesses will be maintained.

Timing:

Works associated with the Line Marking Program are scheduled to take place between 1 October 2026 and 30 November 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.

Progress:

21 October -

Works are moving to Bald Hills Road / Springs Road and will require some night works.

Yellow line marking along Mount Barker Road (Main Street, Hahndorf) will also be undertaken.
