Community Disability Reference Group

The Mount Barker District Council established a Community Disability Reference Group, bringing together people with lived experience, carers, advocates, and those passionate about inclusion, to help develop a new Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP).

The group was formed to provide insights and advice throughout the development of the DAIP. Members contributed by:

  • Reviewing and providing feedback on draft actions and priorities
  • Sharing lived experiences
  • Helping connect with others in the community and supporting broader engagement

The group began in August 2025 and will continue to through to December 2026. Sessions have been informal and flexible, ensuring participants can share their views without formal responsibilities.

This collaborative approach has strengthened our draft DAIP and helped shape a more inclusive future for the Mount Barker district.

Council is currently consulting with the wider community on the draft DAIP. For more information, visit the DAIP 2025-2029 Your Say page.
