Captain Hahn Statue Repair
The Captain Hahn Memorial in the Pioneer Memorial Gardens in Hahndorf has been identified for reconstruction of the memorial including demolishing and removing the existing pedestal and base, waterproofing and replacement of plaque.
Construction works commenced in March 2026 to restore this tribute to its former beauty.
The restoration work is expected to be complete by the last quarter of 2026.
Echunga Recreation Grounds Fire Safety Upgrade
Two new water tanks at Echunga Recreation Grounds serve a very important purpose.
They've been installed so SA Country Fire Service (CFS) volunteers can quicky fill the tanks on their trucks when they're fighting fires.
The need for this water refill point was identified by Council's Building Fire Safety Committee so volunteers have a dedicated supply they can access when it's needed most - and our consultant collaborated with the CFS on the design.
The project at Echunga also included electrical upgrades to the football clubrooms to improve fire safety with additional detectors and emergency lighting now installed.
Fire extinguishers and blankets are also in place to ensure the clubrooms meet current fire safety requirements.
A timely upgrade to improve water reliability at Echunga ahead of fire danger season later in the year.
