Mawson / Battunga / Nottage Roads Intersection

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport are undertaking a number of projects to make improvements to roads and transport infrastructure across the Adelaide Hills and Mount Barker region.

Contact:

Council is a key stakeholder to these projects and has allocated staff to liaise with DIT in relation to impacted Council assets and services to the community.

The intersection of Mawson Road, Battunga Road and Nottage Road in Meadows has been identified as a key location in the Adelaide Hills that would benefit from safety upgrades.

A single-lane roundabout at Mawson Road, Battunga Road and Nottage Road intersection in Meadows has been identified as the best treatment for improving safety at this location.

August 2026

Meadows experiences some of the highest rainfall in the district.

Heavy rainfall causes localised flooding at the intersection of Mawson, Nottage and Battunga Roads.

Council completed an upgrade of Nottage Road in 2024 which included stormwater drainage improvements to help mitigate localised flooding.

While these pipes along Nottage Road can now cope with the volumes of water experienced on the weekend, further improvements are needed in the area.

We are pleased to report that Council has been working with the Department of Infrastructure and Transport to plan, design and fund an upgrade to the local drainage network as part of the upcoming Mawson/Nottage/Battunga intersection project.

The state government's project website indicates major construction on the intersection upgrade is expected to start in early 2027.
