Flaxley / Rainbird Intersection

What we're doing:

Financial contribution to the upgrade of Flaxley Road / Rainbird Drive intersection.

How much is it going to cost:

$3,597,442 (excl. GST) in 2025/26

50:50 contribution from the Ministerial Deed reserve and the MDPA Transport Infrastructure Separate Rate

Timeframe:

Arising from a previous condition of development approval, the second stage of upgrading the junction of Flaxley Road and Rainbird Drive is required to be completed when the Newenham development reaches the agreed allotment number trigger as stipulated by the Commissioner of Highways (Department for Infrastructure and Transport).

Background:

This junction upgrading comprises a very small portion of the overall upgrading of Flaxley Road with the balance of the Flaxley Road upgrade to occur at a future time. The junction treatment to be built by the developer provides a key sub-arterial connection between Flaxley Road and Heysen Boulevard and is aimed at bringing this section of Flaxley Road up to an improved standard suitable for the traffic volumes and increased level of service required of an urban area.
