Blooms of Change (Period Justice Grant)

The Commissioner for Children and Young People’s 2024 Period Justice Grants Program

In April 2024, Council achieved a significant milestone by successfully applying for The Commissioner’s Period Justice Grants Program. The grant amount of $5,000 is aimed at tackling the pressing issues of period poverty and stigma of menstruation within our community by supporting community projects that foster education, provide necessary resources, and cultivate an environment of understanding and acceptance around menstruation.

Did you know that period poverty affects a significant number of individuals in Australia? According to recent studies, approximately 1 in 10 Australian women aged between 14 and 21 are unable to afford menstrual products.

How have we used the grant money?
