Council is committed to maintaining all bridges, culverts and stormwater in good condition to provide a safe environment with a number of assets scheduled for maintenance during the course of the financial year.

The renewal will often consist of vegetation clearing in the waterway and surrounds, repairs to bridge and supporting structures.

The majority of the works will occur off road, however there is the potential for minor traffic disruptions during the works. All endeavours will be made to ensure a minimum of inconvenience, but alternative routes should be planned while these works are under way.  Road users are requested to adhere to any detours that will be in place and plan alternate routes to avoid delay in reaching their destination.

Council endeavours to complete the Bridges, Culverts and Stormwater Programs within the indicated year, however the program can be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs the affected segment will be scheduled in a future works program.

The total budget for the 2023/24 Financial year is:

• Bridges and Culverts Renewal $200,000
• Bridges and Culverts New
• Stormwater and Drainage $245,000

Railway Creek/Bernhardt Court Flood mitigation – design work

Railway Creek (Mount Barker Creek to Fletcher Road) and Bernhardt Court/Frame Court have been identified as areas subject to flooding during large rain events.

An application for a 50% subsidy for the design costs was made to the Storm Water Management Authority and was successful.

Initial design work has commenced for the upgrading of the Railway Creek channel and the installation of a suitable storm water system in Bernhard Court and Frame Court in order to prevent the 1 in 100 year storm event from flooding adjacent properties.

At the concept design stage, expected in April/May 2024, community engagement will be undertaken seeking feedback to assist in the ongoing design process.
