Community Funding Assessment Committee

Council’s Community Funding Assessment Committee provide advice and recommendations to Council for the approval of applications to Council’s Community Grants, Environmental Grants, Community Infrastructure Grants and Arts Grants Programs. Further, the Committee recommend to Council who should receive a discretionary rate rebate.

At its meeting on 2 June 2025 Council adopted a new Terms of Reference for this Committee which included a change of name from the Community Grants Assessment Committee, to the Community Funding Assessment Committee.

Meetings of the Community Funding Assessment Committee are open to the public. An agenda is available for inspection 3 clear days prior to the meeting. Agenda and minutes are posted below. Minutes are available within 5 clear days after the meeting.

Committee Members

• Councillor Jessica Szilassy
• Councillor Ian Grosser
• Councillor Anne Elizabeth Fordham (Proxy)

Two independent members join the Committee for the purposes of assessing the Arts Grants. These independent members have experience working across different artforms and provide specialist advice to the committee, focussing on the artistic merit of applications. These independent members are drawn from a panel of six which includes:

• Jorji Gardener (visual art)
• Lynda de Koning (writing, dance, theatre)
• Lyndal Hordacre Kobayashi (writing, moving image, music/ sound, visual art, dance, theatre, performance)
• Monika Morgenstern (visual art, moving image)
• Tiffany Knight (moving image, theatre)
• Wendy Dixon-Whiley (visual art)
