Notice of Works - City Centre Project - Druids / Hutchinson / Morphett / Stephen Streets
30 July 2026 - Bulk Earthworks Commencing
Mount Barker District Council, in partnership with Burke Urban, is developing the City Centre project site bordered by Druids Avenue, Morphett, Hutchinson and Stephen Streets. The City Centre project is a long-standing strategic project to catalyse the city centre with the first phase being the development of a new landscaped Town Square and public realm area.
To enable the construction of the Town Square, Council has engaged Diverse Civil to undertake initial site preparation and civil bulk earthworks. These works will occur between August and September 2026 with works expected to commence within the next 7 days. The typical hours of operation for construction, unless notified otherwise, are between 7am and 5pm, Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturday morning works.
All the bulk earthworks will take place within the site, however there is expected to be increased traffic along Stephen Street and Druids Avenue. It is not expected that access to any properties will be restricted. The contractor will make contact separately with their contact details and to notify exact timing of the works. All endeavours will be taken to keep the disruption to residents and businesses to a minimum.
The bulk earthworks are the first step in the construction of the City Centre Precinct, which, once completed, will lead into the construction of the Town Square and Public Realm once a contractor has been engaged.
Should you require further information or have any special circumstances that Council should be aware of during this period, please contact Council’s Project Manager, Eloise Langford on telephone 08 8393 7625 or via email council@mountbarker.sa.gov.au
