Audit and Risk Committee

Council's Audit and Risk Committee provide an independent assurance and advice to Council on accounting, financial management, internal controls, risk management and governance matters. Council has established its Audit and Risk Committee (the Committee) pursuant to section 126 and section 41 of the Local Government Act 1999.

The Committee operates independently from management, offering valuable insights without executive powers. Reports to the Council from Audit and Risk aim to facilitate informed decision-making in alignment with responsibilities as outlined in the Terms of Reference.

Membership of the Committee consists of five Members, four of whom are Independent Members determined by Council to have the experience relevant to the functions of the Committee and one member of Council. The Council may also wish to appoint a proxy to this Committee.

The Committee meet a minimum of 6 times per year as detailed in the Annual Work Plan. Meetings are open to the public unless indicated otherwise. An agenda is available 3 clear days prior to the meeting and the minutes are available 5 days after the meeting. Agendas and minutes are posted below.
