Feasibility Study of Alternative Kerbside Waste Collection Services
Feasibility Study of Alternative Kerbside Waste Collection Services
At its 15 January 2024 meeting, Council approved a process to conduct further investigations into alternative service models with a report due back in late 2024. These models included weekly green waste service and fortnightly recycle and general waste services.
Council engaged the Adelaide Hills Region Waste Management Authority (AHRWMA) to undertake a feasibility study to look at alternative service delivery models that had been included for costing as part of the Tender for the Kerbside Waste, Recyclables and Organics Collection and Processing Services.
As part of this feasibility study AHRWMA drew on experiences and learnings from other councils that have undertaken similar investigations into alternative service delivery models. The AHRWMA also engaged with leading waste consultancy RAWTEC who has worked with many of the councils that have undertaken alternative service delivery investigations and trials.
The AHRWMA presented a high level summary of the draft findings of their feasibility study at an information session on the 21 October 2024 and their final report was presented at the 2 December 2024 Council meeting.
