Take only photos, leave only footprints
Talented local artist, Taylor Summers - TaylrJay - joined forces with the students to bring this project to life.
Following a visit to the reserve and some creative brainstorming sessions, the students and Taylr crafted a design that celebrates the uniqueness of Coppins Bush Reserve. The sign not only showcases its special features but also outlines essential guidelines for visitors to preserve and protect this cherished space.
The students wanted to create something more vibrant and colourful than the usual council signs and included an acknowledgment of Peramangk Country along with images of native wildlife including a kangaroo, blue-tongue lizard, kookaburra, and more.
The Sign's Message: "Take only photos, leave only footprints, stay on trails, dogs on leads, no bikes."
Taylor said, "It's nice to enable the community to look after Coppins and take some ownership for it as well because it's a very special place within Littlehampton."
Hats off to the students for their incredible efforts from reaching out to Council, securing grant funding, brainstorming and actively participating in the design and painting process. This fantastic project came to life just in time for the students' farewell from Littlehampton Primary School as they gear up for high school in 2024.
A special shoutout to Littlehampton Primary School, and Trees For Life (SA) for their collaboration in making this unique sign a reality. Let's value and respect our beautiful reserve together!
