Mount Barker District Council has launched GMB Water, the largest wastewater service operated by any local government in South Australia.
Established under Section 42 of the Local Government Act 1999 (SA), GMB Water oversees and operates the Council’s growing wastewater and recycled water services. The new subsidiary allows Council to bring in specialist expertise to manage the increasing scale and complexity of these essential operations.
A Board of Directors, appointed by Council, sets the overall strategy, policy, and direction for GMB Water. This ensures the effective delivery and expansion of wastewater and recycled water services across the district.
GMB Water currently provides services to more than 15,000 households and businesses through four schemes in the townships of Mount Barker, Littlehampton, Nairne, Brukunga, Echunga, Meadows, and Macclesfield.
