Mini Makers Market finds a new home
This year’s event, which showcases the creativity and enterprise of local children and young people, will be held on Thursday 9 October 2025 from 4pm – 7.30pm at 23 Mann Street, Mount Barker, at the Adelaide Hills Farmers Market site.
Young stallholders will bring their ideas to life by running their own market stalls, sharing handmade creations, and learning valuable business and customer service skills in a real market environment.
Mount Barker District Council Community Development Officer – Children and Youth, Shannon Swart, said the move reflects the event’s growing popularity.
“The Mini Makers Market has become so successful that we simply needed more space. Moving to the Adelaide Hills Farmers Market is an exciting next step, giving our young stallholders the opportunity to showcase their products to an even wider audience,” Shannon said.
In the lead-up to the event, all 60 stallholders will take part in two fun, practical workshops designed to help them feel confident, prepared and ready to shine on market day.
The first workshop held recently gave participants a practical introduction to market life, with guidance from experienced vendors on how to plan and prepare for their own stalls.
Facilitated by Adelaide Hills Farmers Market staff, the session provided an opportunity for the young people to ask questions, share ideas and connect with their peers.
“Attendees were able to exchange tips and begin shaping their concepts into stalls that will be featured at future markets,” Shannon said.
“These workshops give our young makers the chance to meet one another, learn new skills, and build confidence before they open their stalls to the community. It’s about creating a supportive environment where they can test their ideas, gain experience, and grow as young entrepreneurs.”
Proudly supported by Mount Barker District Council, the Mini Makers Market celebrates the creativity and innovation of young people in the Mount Barker district.
“Every year, we are blown away by the talent, energy, and determination of our Mini Makers. This event is more than just a market – it’s a celebration of young people having the courage to share their ideas and the opportunity to be part of something bigger,” Shannon said.
