Project Update July 2025
The City Centre Project, located in the heart of the Mount Barker’s thriving business precinct, will create a high quality, mixed-use development precinct that will deliver significant community and economic benefits for Mount Barker’s future.
With an updated site master plan endorsed by Council in late 2024, Council and its development partner Burke Urban Investments will deliver a new town square, community spaces, offices, co-working hub, retail areas, accommodation and car parking.
The delivery of the project has been split into the following stages to ensure timely delivery of outcomes for the community:
- Stage 1A – towns square, plaza and retail corner
- Stage 1B – offices, retail, car parking, Council-owned building
- Stage 2 – accommodation and further car parking
Design has commenced for all elements of Stage 1A and B with the highly regarded Adelaide architect firm, JPE Design Studio. The immediate focus however is on the design and delivery of the highly anticipated town square which will be a new central gathering space for the community.
