What are the rules for Council Members who have been granted leave of absence from office?

Under the Local Government Act, a Council Member on leave of absence from office must not:

1. use any facility, service or form of support provided by Council other than those accessible to members of the public; or
2. perform any function or duty as a Council Member.

The maximum fine for a Council Member who breaches the Act while on leave of absence from office is $15,000.
