Love from Alba, Olive and Bonnie
Not because they like to see their rubbish go but because they love to wave to the truck driver and say hello every week. They love it so much that Alba had the brilliant idea to draw and frame a picture to gift to him for Christmas.
The girls' mum told us, “Our daughters hear the garbage truck from way off, and run out to greet him, rain hail or shine! We are lucky enough to have the happiest, friendliest truck driver who starts waving out the window all the way down the road. He always stops and has a quick chat, which makes our day.”
On Facebook, others chimed in and voiced their praise for the driver:
“He really is the best! My kids love him too!!”
“He's the bestist garbo in the whole wide world.”
And many more showed their appreciation for their own rubbish truck drivers:
“We've always had lovely, friendly drivers also - they wave, toot the horn and say hello to the little ones lining up on our street to see them!”
“We used to love the rubbish truck and would go out every morning to wave to the man. He often got chocolates at Christmas and an egg at Easter. They are a lovely bunch.”
“Our wheelie bin driver always waves and says G'day to me too. I admire them, as doing a repetitive job with tricky wheelie bin placements would be hard.”
The last word goes to the driver’s sister:
“What a beautiful thing you did for him ❤️. He sent me the photo of his gift and said I quote ‘in the 15 years I've worked for Solo I've never had such a beautiful gift.’ Thank you for making his year!!”
