Rain, Rain Kept Away
The library provided a cosy and inviting atmosphere for SES volunteers to demonstrate their safety equipment, educate attendees about the dangers of floodwaters, and offer children a chance to explore their emergency response truck. Young participants eagerly joined in sandbag activities, while adults chatted with local SES volunteers, learning vital tips on weather emergency preparedness.
The SES colouring competition and story time were a hit, and the community sausage sizzle by Mt Barker Scout Group was a great way to end the morning that captured the importance of staying vigilant during weather events.
Friday's storm served as a stark reminder of the invaluable role our dedicated emergency services volunteers play during and after severe weather, and Saturday's event was a perfect blend of learning, fun, and community connection under clear skies.
