SSRP Link Road

3 April 2023

Council is proud to announce the official opening of the Link Road from Heysen Boulevard to the Summit Sport and Recreation Park following today’s opening event.

Deputy Mayor Simon Westwood said this important link road will connect into the facilities of the Summit Sport and Recreation Park from Heysen Boulevard, making it easier for motorists to access the Park.

“A concrete footpath adjacent the link road will also provide for pedestrians and cyclists to enter the park and access the network of trails right into the heart of Mount Barker.”

‘Providing a second entry and exit point to the park will be of enormous benefit on match days with vehicles easily able to get to and from Heysen Boulevard.” Deputy Mayor Westwood said.

The project was planned for and funded by Council in the Annual Business Plan 2022-23 and was fast tracked to be ready for the upcoming AFL Gather Round on 15 April 2023.

“We would like to congratulate Lanser Developments No. 1 Pty Ltd, Greenhill Engineers Pty Ltd and BMD Constructions for their collaborative efforts in working with Council to deliver the link road and pathway in such a professional and expeditious manner.

The new link road complements Council’s creation of a new grassed overflow car park to the south of the main oval which will increase the capacity of car parking at the site.
