Additional Kerbside Bins

Council is changing how we provide additional kerbside bins to residents.

For “new” additional bin residents

From 1 July 2024, “new” additional bin* properties can apply for a single additional bin. Previously additional bins could only be applied for and supplied as a whole set (not as singular bins).

To order an additional bin complete the request for new / additional bin/s online form

* Please note that additional bins are for a minimum of 12 months from the date of supply.

For “current” additional bin residents

From 1 October 2024, current additional bin residents will be given the choice to:

  1. Continue to keep all of the additional bins (no change to service)
  2. Remove some of the additional bins (modify service)
  3. Remove all of the additional bin/s (discontinue service)

To change your current additional bins you will need to complete the removal / alteration of additional bin online form

Damaged Council branded waste or recycling bins will be repaired and/or replaced by Council's contractor only if it can reasonably be demonstrated that the damage was not the fault of the resident (taking into account that all bins have a limited life and their condition will progressively deteriorate with normal use).

Where the damage is deemed by Council to be deliberate or misuse a replacement fee for each bin will then apply.

The ratepayer is responsible for the maintenance of the 240L green waste bin and will hence be responsible for the organising of any repair due to being damaged.

Damage caused to your green organics bins as a result of the contractor may be rectified by Solo, however this is at the direction of the contractor due to the bin being privately owned.

Solo can be contacted by phone on (08) 8159 5061 or email at Adelaide.ops@solo.com.au

The Council branded 140L waste bin and 240L recycling bin will be replaced at no charge where the resident has reported the loss to the police and provided a police report number to Council’s waste contractor, Solo.

The 240L green organics bin is the responsibility of the resident and the resident is required to replace this bin if it is stolen.

Solo can be contacted by phone on (08) 8159 5061 or email at Adelaide.ops@solo.com.au.

The waste contractor maintains a database of properties and their eligible services.
