Funky Horse Paddock gets Funkier
Our carefully selected and strategically placed Australian natives enhance the natural beauty of the RV sites. Among the new additions is the Australian White Cedar (Melia azedarach), a classic beauty that sheds its leaves in winter, allowing the warm Cally sunlight to brighten your camping experience during the colder months.
We've also planted some unique and rarely cultivated "desert-like" eucalypts. The Flowering Moorts from Western Australia (Eucalyptus cernua and Eucalyptus nutans) add a splash of color, while the folklore favorite, the Ghost Gum (Eucalyptus victrix), stands tall with its iconic white bark, providing a touch of the Australian outback to our park.
Adding to the mix, you'll find the majestic Red Iron Bark (Eucalyptus sideroxylon), forming a beautiful backdrop along the eastern boundary. The scene is dotted with the curiously iconic Mulga (Acacia aneura) and a new traveller from arid areas of South Australia, the Narrow Leaved Peppermint Box (Eucalyptus cajuputea).
And where did the name "Funky Horse Paddock" come from?
Ronda Eden and her husband owned the property which was home to the Funky Horse art gallery. The gallery had busloads of people visit regularly and Ronda would recite Australian poetry and play the zagaphone. Ronda is still an artist, now living in Nevada and has written and illustrated several children's books.
