Cats for adoption

Mount Barker District Council is seeing an increasing number of cats and kittens requiring rehoming. This is due to several factors, including animal welfare organisations and privately run rescues being at full capacity, as well as a rise in unclaimed stray cats, abandoned or dumped animals, and litters of feral and semi-feral kittens.

Many cats entering Council care are not microchipped or reported missing, while others are born in the community and require veterinary care before they can be responsibly rehomed. As a result, Council is playing an increasingly important role in helping these animals find safe, loving homes.

All cats and kittens made available for adoption have been vet checked, are de-sexed, microchipped, and have received their first vaccinations.

If you are interested in welcoming one of these cats or kittens into your family, please complete the online application form below.

About me

Name: Daisy

Sex: Female

Age: approximately 5 years old

Other details:

Daisy is a beautiful, shy girl, estimated to be around 5 years old, who is looking for a patient and loving home to call her own.

Found in a rural area and never claimed, Daisy's past is a mystery, but one thing is certain - she deserves a bright future.

Daisy would thrive in a calm, quiet home that will give her the time and space she needs to decompress and settle in at her own pace. Once she's comfortable, you'll find a lovely companion who enjoys the simple things in life, especially sitting by the window and watching the world go by.

About me

Name: Duke

Sex: Male

Age: approximately 1 year old

Other details:

Duke is a handsome black Domestic Short Hair, estimated to be around 1 year old, who is searching for a patient and understanding family to help him start his next chapter.

Found in Nairne and never claimed, Duke's past remains a mystery. While we don't know what life was like before he arrived in our care, we do know that he is a sweet and gentle boy.

Duke is still learning to trust people and may choose to hide when he first arrives in a new home. He will need adopters who understand that building confidence takes time and who are willing to let him settle in at his own pace. With patience, kindness, and a quiet environment, Duke is sure to continue blossoming into the wonderful companion we know he can be.

Duke may be a little shy at first, but beneath that is a gentle soul just waiting for the chance to feel safe, loved, and part of a family.

If you think you could offer Duke the patient and caring home he deserves, we'd love to hear from you.
