What waste services do schools receive?

Primary and secondary schools are entitled to the following, per Rateable Property:

• provision by Council of a maximum of one 140L waste bin and one weekly 140L collection service,
• provision by Council of a maximum of one 240L recycling bin per 100 students and a fortnightly 240L recycling collection service, and
• provision by Council of a maximum of one 240L green organics bin and one fortnightly organics collection service

From 1 October 2026, new schools in a designated 'township' area will receive a 240L green lidded bin for green waste. This applies to new bin applications only. Green bins will not be issued retrospectively.

Schools will be responsible for managing the disposal of waste to landfill in excess of the capacity provided.
