Waste to Resources Management Plan 2018-2025
Following community consultation, at the meeting held on 1 July 2019, Council endorsed the Waste to Resources Management Plan 2018-2025. The Waste Management Plan sets out to reduce waste to landfill by 20% per person by 2025.
For more information and to view the plan go to Waste Management Plan.
Council provides a district wide kerbside collection service in line with our Kerbside Waste and Recycling Collection Policy, comprising of:
- District Wide: 140L weekly general waste collection & 240L fortnightly recycling collection
- Townships Only: 240L fortnightly green waste collection (green lid bin)
Council provides the General Waste & Recycle bins to residents as part of the annual refuse charge. The refuse charge will cost rural ratepayers $169 per annum and township ratepayers $201 per annum. This charge is itemised on your rates notice. Please ensure your bin is out at kerbside by 6am on the day of collection. To ensure collection, Council encourages residents to place bins out the night before.
Bins may not be collected for the following reasons:
- Excessively contaminated with materials that should not be placed into that bin; and
- Excessive weight: bins that exceed 50kg in weight will not be collected.
Residents designated as ‘township’ are required to provide a suitable 240L green lidded bin for green waste collection. Please contact Council if you are unsure if your property is designated as ‘township’ or refer to the frequently asked questions page.
Commercial & Industrial properties are excluded from green waste collection. Please view the attached information sheet for further information.

Missing, Stolen or Damaged Bins
Has your kerbside waste bin (blue lid) or recycling bin (yellow lid) gone missing, or been stolen from your property? Or has your bin been damaged and require repair/replacement?
Below is some helpful information that will be able to assist you with your enquiry.
Missing or Stolen Bin(s)
If your waste or recycling bin has gone missing or has been stolen from your property, the resident will need to obtain a police report number from SAPOL or, complete a statutory declaration and provide this information to Councils contractor SOLO. Once approved, SOLO will deliver a replacement bin to the property at no charge to the resident.
With your green organics bins (green lid), due to the bin being privately owned, replacement of a missing or stolen green organics bin is at the residents/owners own expense.
If you have found your waste or recycling bin to have been damaged, Councils contractor SOLO will action repair and/ or replacement only if it can be reasonably demonstrated that the damage was not the fault of the resident.
Damaged caused to your green organics bins as a result of the contractor may be replaced however, this is at the direction of the contractor due to the bin being privately owned. Please contact SOLO in this matter.
All waste and recycle bins will have a unique identification code which will be linked to each property. If you find a bin, please contact Council and advise the identification number located on the left hand side of the bin.
For further information please contact SOLO Resource Recovery by emailing them on Adelaide.firstname.lastname@example.org or call Council on 8391 7200.
