The Event Support Program occurs annually, usually around May.
Mount Barker District Council has and continues to be supportive of local events that provide our communities with either economic or social benefit. Each year (usually around May), individuals and/or community groups who are considering running an event during the following financial year, are invited to participate in the Event Support Program through an expression of interest process. Even if you do not have all the details yet, this process will at least provide Council with an indication of possible events and reservation of sponsorship dollars or in-kind support.
For example - you may be a group that is considering running a festival late in the following financial year. We do not expect that you would have finalized dates, times, performers, nor know exactly what assistance you may need from Council.
Due to the amount of events affected by COVID-19 in 2020, this year the program will be taking into consideration those events that support Local Business and Community to stimulate the local economy.
Every event planned to run between 1st July- 30th September 2020 will need to provide an alternative date after the 1st October 2020 in case the COVID-19 restrictions are still in place.
The funds available may not allow us to support all events with cash contribution, however there are ways which we can assist all events with in kind support.
- Cash Sponsorship is subject to final budget allocation, tourism event costs and the assessment of expressions of interest received from across the district.
- We are also committed to ensuring transparent and equitable investment across the district
** Please note; we only support activities run in the Mount Barker District Council area and will NOT fund an entire event (there must be other financial stakeholders).
Please note that all event organisers/community groups must participate in the expression of interest process regardless of whether you have been funded in the past.

Anzac Day 2020 was different due to COVID-19 restrictions that were in place to avoid crowds gathering.
Macclesfield RSL developed a pack that contains activities and projects for children and families to assist them in participating and learning about ANZAC day whilst at home.
