Notice of Works - Wastewater Gravity Mains Replacement Finniss Street
As part of Council’s Wastewater Gravity Mains Replacement Program, planning activities and minor works such as survey, locations and slashing will commence on Monday 22 January 2024 and works will commence on Monday 29 January 2024, taking place from the southern end of McLaren Street heading south-east along the linear trail, to the new footbridge at the rear of the Victoria Crescent Medical Centre. These works are to replace the existing effluent mains running along this section of the linear trail, with a new pipe to rectify damaged sections of the existing pipe and to cater for sewer discharges in the future. The work is programmed maintenance and is critical for the safe operation of Council’s wastewater network.
Council has awarded the contract to Fleurieu Civil & Constructions Pty Ltd. Work will be performed between the hours of 7.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
During construction, traffic and pedestrian management will be in place to ensure the safety of the contractors, road users and pedestrians. Due to the nature of the works requiring open trench construction, sections of the linear trail will be closed to pedestrian access and detours will be in place. If possible, please use an alternative route during construction to avoid delays in reaching your destination.
It is envisaged that construction works along the trail will be progressive, resulting in temporary access restrictions to sections of the linear trail during the day. Every effort will be made to provide access to the linear trail after each day’s construction activities if it is safe to do so. Please note: Public safety will be the deciding factor to opening up the linear trail at the end of each day’s construction activities. It is anticipated, that construction will take approximately 6-8 weeks dependent upon the weather.
